UAE-Ghana travel: Dubai-Accra route expanded as Emirates raises frequency to 11 services weekly
Stronger West Africa links via expanded schedule options
DUBAI – Emirates is expanding its West Africa footprint with a major increase in services to Accra.
From 12 July 2026, the airline will introduce four additional weekly flights between Dubai and Accra, lifting its total frequency on the route to 11 weekly services alongside the existing daily operation.
The move reflects sustained passenger demand and growing connectivity between Ghana and international markets through Dubai’s global hub. Operated by the Boeing 777-300ER, the added services are designed to enhance schedule flexibility, improve travel options and support both business and leisure flows across key markets.
Flight expansion
The additional service will operate under flight numbers EK789 and EK790, running four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. EK789 departs Dubai at 03:30hrs, arriving in Accra at 07:40hrs, while the return EK790 leaves Accra at 10:25hrs and lands in Dubai at 22:40hrs. These timings are designed to improve onward connections and turnaround efficiency for passengers.
With the new frequencies, Emirates will operate 11 weekly flights on the Dubai-Accra route, combining the existing daily service with additional operations. All flights will be operated by the Boeing 777-300ER, offering First, Business and Economy cabins, with 8 First suites, 42 Business lie-flat seats and 304 Economy seats, enhancing capacity across key demand segments throughout peak seasonal travel periods in West Africa region.
The expanded operation strengthens Emirates’ global connectivity through its Dubai hub, offering passengers in Ghana access to a wide network of destinations across Asia, Australia, the Americas and the Middle East. From Accra, travellers can connect seamlessly via Dubai to cities including Beijing, Seoul, Sydney, Perth, Mumbai, Singapore, New York JFK and Jeddah. In the opposite direction, improved schedules enhance inbound access to Accra from key origins such as Delhi, Boston, Los Angeles, Germany and the United Kingdom. The upgraded network supports both leisure and business travel while reinforcing Dubai’s role as a major global transfer point. By increasing frequency on the route, Emirates enhances schedule choice and reduces transit times for passengers travelling between Ghana and major international markets through its integrated network supporting trade and tourism growth across regions consistently year-round demand flows.
Cargo boost
Emirates SkyCargo will benefit from increased bellyhold capacity on the expanded Accra services, enabling greater movement of goods between Ghana and global markets via Dubai. The additional flights will support exports of fresh cut fruit from Ghana to European destinations such as Prague and Zurich, alongside shipments of electronics, textiles and pharmaceuticals. This expanded capacity is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and improve access for local businesses to international customers.
Leveraging its cool chain infrastructure, Emirates SkyCargo maintains product integrity for temperature-sensitive cargo across long-haul journeys. The increased frequency is set to stimulate economic activity by strengthening trade links and improving logistics reliability for Ghanaian exporters and importers.
